HBG City, together with the restaurateurs in Helsingborg, the police and Helsingborgs stad, is launching the awareness campaign “Drugs cost more than you think”, which highlights the link between drug use and organized crime in the city. In recent years, several shootings and explosions have taken place in Helsingborg and a majority can be linked to criminal gangs. One of their main sources of income is drug sales. This means that the money from drugs plays a major role in the deadly conflicts.
The campaign runs for four weeks and consists of short films shown on social media. In the videos, we see people using drugs in pub toilets while receiving a message on their mobile phone saying “Thanks for your contribution! You have sponsored the next shooting next to your mom’s workplace.” The aim is to raise awareness and highlight the link between drug use and organized crime in society. The campaign is part of the national work Krogar mot Knark (Pubs against Drugs), which aims to reduce drug use in pub environments and make the open drug trade in entertainment more difficult.
