Beloved Söder

In Helsingborg, there is a strong focus on creating a vibrant, safe and attractive city center from both the city and the business community. We are working on several fronts and with different processes that are linked together. Purple Flag is part of this.

Söder is so much more than ‘just’ a place. It’s the feel, the smells, the sounds, the light, the buzz, the birds, the trees, the streets and most of all the people.

It is you, together with everyone who lives, works, shops or moves around Söder that contributes to how the district is experienced. Whether it’s offering a smile, enjoying an outdoor café or not littering, it’s all the little things that make a big difference together.

Starting in 2019 and beyond, we have an extra focus on improving Söder. We are working on a broad front to increase well-being and safety here. This is done in collaboration between businesses, property owners, HBG City, the police, Helsingborgs stad and residents and visitors.

For example, we have actively worked with presence through security guards, security hosts and Södervärdar, to improve the place by focusing completely, clean and tidy, activated residents, businesses, associations together with the city and HBG City in Söderdagen, worked with establishment strategies to strengthen the identity, created meeting places and worked with traffic issues, etc.

Efforts on Söder

The issue of safety is important to Helsingborgs stad and the basis of the work of Älskade Söder. To increase presence and attractiveness, various initiatives are made.

Forms of cooperation

The work is done in collaboration between business owners, property owners, HBG City, police, Helsingborgs stad, associations and parishes as well as residents and visitors.

Purple Flag

We want a vibrant, safe and attractive city center, which feels welcoming and invites to activity and stay. Since the fall of 2016, Purple Flag has been working together and through broad collaboration to create an equal, safe and attractive city with a varied range of activities for everyone, even after 17:00.

Purple Flag in the Söder

In October 2018, in connection with the certification of Helsingborg C, we started the Purple Flag work on Söder. There is a lot going on in Söder right now and the work with Purple Flag is part of the Älskade Söder place collaboration. In November 2020, we were certified for our action plan for the area and in November 2022, we were recertified for a new updated action plan.

Part of the Älskade site collaboration Söder

In Helsingborgs stad, there is a strong focus on creating a vibrant, safe and attractive city center from both the city and the business community. In the Älskade Söder place collaboration project, we are working on several fronts and with different processes that are linked together. Purple Flag is part of this.

Examples of what we are currently working on in the area:
– We activate Furutorpsplatsen in the Söderscen project.
– Collaboration between property owners at Söder
– We meet businesses at Söder at regular intervals.
– We meet students in the area.
– We collaborate with Tryggare Sverige.
– We meet parishes and associations, including through the group for religious dialogue and InvaSam.
– Housing associations and residents work to contribute to safety, experience and pride.
– We work with a clean and tidy environment.
– We work with traffic and urban planning.
– We work with safety.
– We build networks, because together we are strong!

We are actively working with these focus groups:
– Property owners
– Housing associations/residents
– Students/young people
– Helsingborgs stad and authorities
– Associations
– Parishes
– Cityföreningen

The most important thing for Söder is to build trust and bridges to show that we mean business. We will not be able to change everything in a short time, but it must be done in small steps and with respect for the soul and identity of the South.
