The Christmas train

The little Christmas train chugs through downtown from the North Pole to the South Pole. It’s free to ride the Christmas train—just hop on. Take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful winter lights on this short ride through the city center.

How it works

The train runs between two stops: the North Pole (Sundstorget, near Dunkers kulturhus) and the South Pole (Gustav Adolfs torg during the Christmas market on November 29; on other dates, Mäster Palms plats).

It’s free to ride—just hop on. When the train is crowded, it’s one-way travel only, which means the train empties at the final stop and everyone must get off. Those who want to return to the stop they boarded at will need to get in line again. Please respect this rule so that everyone has the opportunity to ride the Christmas train.
