HBG City, together with the restaurateurs in Helsingborg, the police and the city of Helsingborgs stad, is launching the awareness campaign “Drugs cost more than you think”, which highlights the link between drug use and organized crime in the city. In recent years, several shootings and explosions have taken place in Helsingborg and a majority can be linked to criminal gangs. One of their main sources of income is drug sales. This means that drug money plays a major role in deadly conflicts.
The campaign runs for four weeks and consists of short films shown on social media. In the videos, we see people using drugs in pub toilets while receiving a message on their mobile phone saying “Thanks for your contribution! You’ve sponsored the next shooting next to your mom’s workplace.” The aim is to make the user think and to highlight the link between drug use and organized crime in society. The campaign is part of the national work Pubs Against Drugs, which aims to reduce drug use in pub environments and make the open drug trade in entertainment more difficult.
