Multi-award-winning chef and entrepreneur Simon Weinberg will open Bankpalatset, a new restaurant concept at Järnvägsgatan 7 in spring 2026. In the well-known building dating back to the 19th century, he wants to create a new culinary hub in the city – “a gastronomic meeting place with international appeal”.
– We are taking over a legendary venue in the heart of Helsingborg. It is with great humility and joy that we continue to manage this historic place. Our vision is to create a gastronomic meeting place for everyone. Here you can enjoy an exclusive glass of wine in the wine bar, an ice-cold pilsner in the sun or a dinner with family and friends in the fantastic old bank premises. We also welcome larger groups, companies and events. With passion and love for the craft and uncompromising quality, we look forward to opening the doors in spring 2026 and meeting the guests, says Simon Weinberg, owner of Bankpalatset.
Simon Weinberg is one of Sweden’s most accomplished chefs, with experience from several world-renowned restaurants such as NOMA in Copenhagen, Bagatelle in Oslo and Operakällaren in Stockholm. He has also run the acclaimed fine dining restaurant Bokbacka in Oslo, which has been named one of Norway’s best restaurants several years in a row, and Weinbergs Hotell in Trelleborg, which has achieved White Guide’s “Master Class” and won the award “Best Hotel in Skåne”.
Martin Klinteberg, establishment manager at HBG City, is positive about the establishment.
– When it became clear that Simon intended to relocate to Helsingborg, we were quick to establish a dialog. With Simon’s impressive background, Bankpalatset will be a fantastic addition to the city’s restaurant offering. The property on Järnvägsgatan is something of a landmark in the city centre and it is gratifying that Wihlborgs is creating a unique collaboration with one of Sweden’s most renowned chefs. I am convinced that Bankpalatset will become a destination far beyond the city limits,” says Martin Klinteberg.
We wish Bankpalatset a warm welcome to Helsingborg!
