The idea of a marathon in Helsingborg was born in the fall of 2012 when the initiators Andreas Moresco & Simon Wikstrand first started playing with the idea of a new long-distance race. They quickly realized that Helsingborg offers a great variety in both surface and environment, while the city’s coastline and natural landscapes are unique in a marathon context. So, on a Sunday afternoon in central Helsingborg, work began on building Sweden’s new marathon. Just over two years later, the first edition of Helsingborg Marathon took place with almost 3300 runners on the starting line. The rest is history.
But HBGM is so much more than the people below. We think of our more than 800 fantastic volunteers who ensure that the event is something out of the ordinary and a memory for life. Hospitality and passion are concepts that permeate our business and all participants should feel welcome and cared for. Together with our dedicated audience, we make Helsingborg Marathon a real festival!
