Café Ray is a cinema café that will show a wide range of independent feature films, short films and documentaries in the evenings. In mid-December, it will open its doors at 39A Södra Storgatan. The focus will be on regional producers and filmmakers. They will coordinate their program with international days such as World Environment Day, Labor Day and the like. The program will start in December and will be built upon over time. The concept has been inspired by similar microcinemas in the UK and North America, which often focus on independent films. Café Ray’s vision is to be a response to today’s streaming services, which are less likely to touch on politics, culture and social issues. Offering lunch and coffee, the menu will include Italian-influenced sandwiches and will also have vegetarian and vegan options.
